How can we help?
Research Services
Ancestral research is a journey to the heart of who you are. Every new discovery is thrilling. But, genealogical research can be time consuming, challenging, and, at times, even frustrating – but don’t give up. Help is available. Ancestry Tracking Services strives to help you develop and grow your family tree – building upon what you’ve accomplished, not repeating research you’ve already performed.
It begins by identifying what you’re looking for – your research goal. Then, together, we analyze what you have already discovered. Finally, a research plan is developed for your approval. There is no fee for this initial assessment and planning process. No fees are charged until the actual contracted services begins.
Research plans can be as simple as locating and analyzing a few specific records or as complex as the development of multi-generational pedigrees, perhaps for application to a lineage society such as the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) or Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Your research needs might include:
- Searching specific records
- Performing research at specific repositories (courthouses, archives, etc.)
- Creating an online family tree
- Transcribing/abstracting specific records
No project is too big or too small and every research project culminates with the preparation of a written research report that addresses your specific research goal. Each report generally includes:
- Details, including citations, describing the work done
- A summary of the research findings based upon analysis of the evidence derived
- Copies of all documents found that contain information pertinent to the research goal
- Recommendations for future research
DNA Analysis
DNA is the most recent and scientific addition to the sources of genealogical evidence used to support, or even establish, familial relationships. But, it can be difficult to understand or properly utilize in building a family tree. The applications and analysis of the different types of DNA, mitochondrial (mtDNA), autosomal (atDNA), Y-DNA and X-DNA, as well as the terminology used in assessing DNA matches can be perplexing without some background in the science of genetics.
Ancestry Tracking Services has the scientific background necessary to appropriately use DNA evidence to help clients build their family trees, and perhaps even to identify unknown parents and other direct line ancestors, as well as a multitude of cousins.
- If you’re not sure what to do with all those matches after having done your DNA testing – Ancestry Tracking Services can help.
- If you haven’t done a DNA test but would like to pursue that research path, Ancestry Tracking Services can help you identify and determine which testing service might be best for you.
